EARLY AT AGE TWO
It all started at the age of two when my sister put me on the piano bench. She apparently was going to teach me how to play Doe a Deer from The Sound of Music and I started playing it with both hands. I guess it was my instrument from that point on. Makes me wonder of course now, being that I have two children of my own, how on earth does something like this happen. How can one just "know" how to play an instrument. Maybe genetic, or a past life? Who really knows. All I know is I taught myself most of what I know with the exception of a few aggravated piano teachers who wished with all their hearts I would just look at notes and read the music. My dear Mrs. Millicy finally accepted that I was a writer and at the age of eight and a half years of age I published my first song and won a state competition!

PRE-TEEN
I am the youngest of 5 kids. My parents were very happily married for 36 years. They pursued and accomplished so many of their dreams. We all grew up in southern California eventually working our way North. My father had a successful paving business in the Orange County area and made quite a commute to Bishop. This however was a little too far north so eventually we settled in Tehachapi. My parents had a huge goat ranch and raised Peruvian Paso horses. We also bred Australian Shepherds, Himalayan Cats and Araucana Chickens. My mom studied and practiced the latest in holistic medicine as long as I can remember. How mom could accomplish all this is amazing. I grew up on 25 acres drinking our goats' milk. The goats turned out to be some of my best pets ever. I was also very involved in 4-H and showing my goats and won many trophies. Much of my childhood was also spent on horse back, bringing me closer to Spirit through my adventures in the wilderness. What a blessing to be raised with God's creatures; they were my best friends. I was home-schooled my high school years, again very unconventional for that time, but my parents liked to travel and I was lucky enough to get to go with them. Also I was given the time to seriously pursue my music.

TEEN YEARS
I wrote many more instrumental pieces after that but didn't record them. In my early teens I was in The Rainbow for Girl's a Masonic organization. Working my way up to Worthy Advisor was a wonderful learning experience filled with responsibility and a great background for spirituality and a sense of community involvement. I attended Barbazon modeling school that helped to polish the young lady I was about to become. In my later teen years I auditioned and was accepted into a group called The Young Americans, my introduction to musical theater. This was truly one of the best times ever. At the time I didn't realize performing in front of thousands of people was such a big deal. Someone else set the whole thing up anyway. My job was to get up there and perform, counting on the lights being so bright you couldn't make out anyone in the audience if you tried. Somewhere along the way I remember playing with the great Roger Williams! Didn't really know who he was at the time, but now I consider it quite an honor.

LIFE IN MICHIGAN
With the Young Americans, I toured Hawaii and lived in Michigan twice. The first time I lived at Michigan State University and performed The Pirates of Pensance. The second time was in Boyne Michigan where I enjoyed working at a dinner theater. I found a love for an intimate audience I could visit with following the show and a real love for connecting with people this way.

ACTING WITH ATA
After all this I decided to take up acting so I joined the ATA American Theater of Arts, Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood CA. Soon after, I got a leading role as Lily in a local production for the play "Carnival". My singing definitely outweighed my acting abilities, but it was great fun and a terrific experience for a kid. I received professional voice lessons to prepare me for my part as Lily. Marilyn Childs was one of the best vocal coaches in Santa Monica area, training many Hollywood actors and actresses.

SPIRITUALLY
My life, with such a positive up-bringing, was just about to come to a drastic halt. At the age of 19 my father got cancer. Our whole family was devastated but did everything we knew to keep moving forward. We followed through with the alternative medicine as well as western. His cancer had progressed at such a rapid rate there was no time to think. He lived his last year in a most spiritual way transforming our entire family. Like so many other stories I've heard since, my father's last days when I was 20 my father whom I was very close to passed away. Needless to say, this changed my life drastically. During that time I became more spiritually centered. From the time I can remember, I was raised with the understanding of Science of Mind. My mother and I then joined The First Church of Religious Science and attended many metaphysical healing workshops along with massage therapy, reflexology, iridology, Reiki, aromatherapy, and all the holistic healing classes available.

MARRIAGE
I then met my husband with whom I had none of the above in common. We did however follow and accomplish many of our dreams. Married at 21, like so many young people, I put my whole self into my marriage and pursued the dreams of a partner, leaving my music behind. I worked so hard at everything else from fixing up our homes, repairing, decorating, from artwork to sewing and gardening, all wonderful distractions. Although I have a love for all of the above, music was definitely a huge missing part. I then persued a hypnotherapy degree. I attended HMI, Hypnosis Motivational Institute, Tarzana California one of my best learning experiences of all. For some reason I retained and use so much of the information, as it made such an impact on my life. Music, however, was still a huge missing part. Finally my husband after being married for several years discovered I was a musician, a very moody one who desperately needed a piano. Bless his heart for gifting me one I still play and compose on to this day. I started writing music with lyrics and found an endless supply of melodies. I wrote, like so many artists do to heal, songs about losing my father and the after-life. Very spiritual music.

CHILDREN
After 11 years of marriage and losing 2 babies along with almost losing my own life and multiple operations we adopted two beautiful children. There is a very spiritual story behind these children born of my heart. Nothing less than a miracle brought them to me. I included them on the CD recording Illuminations.

DIVORCE
Like so many others who live in these times, for some marriage is a life time commitment, for others better things await. After eighteen years of marriage, we accomplished all of our dreams, and my partner changed his mind and began a new life elsewhere. This was a huge adjustment again, to say the least, it took its toll on every single part of my being. My heart and spirit were completely broken. Through my struggle I continued writing out my pain until something beautiful occurred.

FOUNDATION
Self realization. Self therapy. Self nurture. I found Self. Where had I been hiding out for so long? Music became my prayer and my closest connection to God. Where pain and torment once existed, love finally won! Music and prayer became the foundation for the CD Illuminations. I found the relationship of my dreams, with myself. The road was harder than I could ever convey in writing, but focusing on what I wanted living inside of me was my choice and my choice alone. I could battle self doubt the rest of my life asking why, or become the person I am today: happy, whole and complete. Life isn't easy for any of us, and in times of pain it isn't always clear where to turn. Turning lovingly within, I have found, is a good place to start.
"How we turn out is how we turn in".
As I look back, with all I have learned about myself, I wouldn't change a thing. It is my hope this music strengthens you as much as it does me every time I sing it. May God bless you, and so it is.
